I wanted to do journalism when I finished secondary (high) school but I didn’t have sufficient grades in the Irish Language – compulsory at the time.
Instead I did something completely different, studied electronics and ended up in the computer business.
My work took me to the Far East and to mainland Europe where I cultivated an interest in the history of the countries and the people that I visited.
Later, I undertook and participated in various studies in creative writing notably University College Dublin, the Irish Writers Centre and Curtis Brown Creative.
I now work full time in writing and my books are driven by further research into the times past of the societies, people and places where they are set. Many of the pictures you’ll see here on the website were taken at those places, past and present. Hope you enjoy.
When not bringing the past to life I spend my time reading – all sorts of stuff – and messing with classic cars (some of which appear in my stories) and playing with my mini Schnauzer, Lucy. I live in Dublin, Ireland.
